Limestone Carved Cemetery Sculpture

Size: 11.0 x 24.0 x 7.25 in; 27.9 x 61.0 x 18.3 cm

Classic poignant example of a youtful angel holding a rose, symbol of the temporal nature of life.   This particular form was often used as cemetery markers staring late in the Victorian period and in common use as late as the 1920s.

Angels serve as a bridge between the earthly realm and the divine—embodying strength, faith, protection and beauty. They offer peace to those who mourn, comforting them with the assurance that their loved ones are watched over in eternity.
