Very early, this is an important survivor, the earliest known extant one sheet for a Popeye short – a non-stock One Sheet given it’s own title and artwork. “I Eats My Spinach” is Popeye's third theatrical short from Fleischer Studios, was released on November 17, 1933. This cartoon was produced in association with the National Recovery Administration.First cartoon to feature Mae Questel (who was also the voice of Betty Booop) as the voice of Olive Oyl. This is one of the more unusual entries for Popeye standards, considering it is also one of his very first shorts, with the antropomorphic population comprised of the typical funny animal range of characters of Fleischer cartoon vintage. “I Eats My Spinach” is also the first cartoon in which Olive is smitten over Bluto, the first cartoon featuring a bull as an antagonist, and the first cartoon in which Wimpy is depicted as having one of several occupations, in this case, he appears as a rodeo announcer.
