Meticulously and artfully-crafted, assembled and painted scale model diorama of the east coast Paddle Steamship Sidewheeler Eclipse, commemorating its popular excursion destinations along the James River. Rivaled only by railroads as symbols of the heights of technology & the major form of 19th century transportation, efficiently enabling the population to become mobile over long distances in a relatively short amount of time, paddleships were celebrated in their day and memorialized in photographs, "portrait" paintings, and scale-model sculptures such as here in the present work.
