In the present work, Scottish artist John Philip has created a carefully-crafted drama where a cheering bullfight crowd stills cheers the unseen contest in the pit oblivious to a fatally-wounded matador who is being carried to the the heavenly infirmary at left (with Christian cross at top) while his female lover (already dressed in mourning black) faints, her feeling of loss and inconsolable grief echoed by the oppressively-heavy concrete beam overhead.
